Solidarity with Cuba – Defend Socialism and Self-Determination!

U.S. imperialism is trying to exploit and encourage discontent over shortages of food and medicine caused by the illegal U.S. blockade. U.S. politicians and media are inciting the protests, smuggling agents into the country, paying provocateurs, and bluntly threatening the Cuban government with invasion.

Miguel Díaz-Canel, president of socialist Cuba, called on his people and all communists to demonstrate in defense of the revolution. Tens of thousands responded to his call. Meanwhile, the people’s armed forces have also been mobilized to protect the borders from incoming Contras and foreign military.

The revolutionary people of Cuba face the challenge of simultaneously resisting the pandemic, imperialist attacks, the blockade and the attempts to cause unrest perpetrated by counterrevolutionaries in the country.

Cuba – pioneer of freedom, peace and progress

Cuba, with its decades-long resistance to U.S. imperialism, its socialist construction and its self-determination and independence are a thorn in the side of Washington and the other Western imperialist states. Cuba is a beacon of the hopes of many billions of people for an existence free from oppression and exploitation, with guaranteed education and good health for everybody, for progress and peace. It is living proof for the realization of the supposedly impossible.

The country has recently demonstrated this once again by developing its own affordable vaccines against Covid-19, in order to be able to vaccinate not only its own population, but also other peoples of the Global South, without the involvement of profit incentives.

Socialist Cuba truly upholds and realizes the very human rights that the imperialist hypocrites and their supporters use only as platitudes to justify interference, wars and oppression.

Solidarity means organizing revolution

Cubans survived the counterrevolution in European socialist countries and proved that socialism can stand on its own for a while, even in a small, resilient country right under the nose of U.S. imperialism. And they will withstand this renewed attack as well. But we already know that the imperialists‘ next move is already in the works.

The Cuban comrades say it themselves: The best form of solidarity is to organize the revolution in our own countries. This is even more true for such strong imperialist powers as Germany. Here, in the belly of the beast, we can deal the decisive blows to imperialism that will make it impossible for it to stretch its reach further into Cuba. Only the establishment of socialism in more countries and the pushing back of the imperialist world system can ensure the survival of the Cuban Revolution in the long run.

Social-democratic projects cannot replace the overthrow of the capitalists and the establishment of the dictatorship of the proletariat, even in the question of genuine international solidarity. This is shown by the left-wing governments in Latin America, whose partial achievements can be quickly taken back in the face of the pressure of capital, or at the latest by the election of pro-U.S. forces. But this is also examplified by the increasingly pro-imperialist appearance of the German Party “Die Linke”, whose executive committee in January showed solidarity with Cuban counterrevolutionaries.

The revolution is therefore a duty, not only toward the working class in our own country, but also toward socialist Cuba and its people, who have endured for 62 years.
